Netflix’s Physical 100 is coming to America. The US version has been filmed, but Netflix still hasn’t said when it will be released, what the prize is, or who’s in it. Here’s everything that has been confirmed, what the other versions tell us about when it will arrive, and what to expect.
- Release date: not announced (as of 5 October 2026)
- Filming: began in late July 2026, in Toronto
- Made by: Netflix with A. Smith & Co. Productions, the company behind American Ninja Warrior and Hell’s Kitchen
- Contestants: 100, from a casting call for American athletes that closed in September 2025
- Prize: not announced
- Cast: not announced
When is Physical 100: USA coming out?
Netflix hasn’t announced a date. The latest confirmed fact is that filming began in Toronto in late July 2026 (Wikipedia).
Our read: don’t expect it before 2027. Sweden’s version started filming in May 2026, two months earlier, and Netflix has said that one premieres in 2027 (Netflix). It’s possible the US version jumps the queue, but Netflix hasn’t said so. We’ll update this page the moment a date is confirmed, and the alert above will email you.
How we got here
- May 2024: Netflix announces an American version at its upfront presentation to advertisers.
- July 2025: Netflix puts out a casting call for 100 American competitors and confirms a European version is in development (A. Smith & Co.).
- September 2025: casting closes (What’s on Netflix).
- Late July 2026: filming begins in Toronto.
In the meantime Netflix has rolled out the format around the world. Mexico and Italy have already aired and crowned winners, France has named its biggest stars, and Sweden has named all 100. See every Physical 100 version, winner and prize.
Who’s making it
Netflix is producing the show with A. Smith & Co. Productions, whose credits include American Ninja Warrior, Hell’s Kitchen and I Survived a Japanese Game Show. Arthur Smith, David Friedman, Anthony Storm and Eli Baldrige are the executive producers.
That’s a company that knows how to build a physical gauntlet for TV. Physical 100‘s finals already lean on obstacle courses: Italy’s opened with one, and Mexico was won by an obstacle racer. A Ninja Warrior producer is a natural fit.
Who’s in the Physical 100: USA cast?
Not announced yet. The casting call went out for “incredible American athletes and physical specimens” (Wikipedia). Every other version has mixed Olympians and pro athletes with soldiers, firefighters, tradies and influencers, so expect the same.
Other versions suggest when we’ll find out. Sweden named all 100 contestants on the day filming started, and Italy and Mexico revealed their casts a few weeks before release. When the US cast is announced, we’ll cover it the way we did Italy’s and Mexico’s.
What’s the prize?
Netflix hasn’t said. Here’s what every other version has paid out, at 5 October 2026 exchange rates:
| Version | Prize | In US dollars |
|---|---|---|
| Physical: 100 (Korea, seasons 1 and 2) | ₩300 million | about US$220,000 |
| Physical: Asia | ₩1 billion (team) | about US$740,000 |
| Physical 100: Mexico | 3 million pesos | about US$165,000 |
| Physical 100: Italy | €100,000 | about US$115,000 |
| 100% Physique (France) | €200,000 | about US$225,000 |
| Physical 100: Sweden | 1 million SEK | about US$100,000 |
What to expect
If it follows the other versions, 100 contestants will start with a long individual endurance test, usually a hang or a plank, then fight one-on-one for a ball, move into team quests, and finish with a final of the last few standing. For how those rounds work and how to train for them, see every Mexico challenge explained and every Italy challenge explained.
Who wins Physical 100?
Not the biggest bodies. Korea’s first winner was a CrossFit athlete, Mexico’s an obstacle racer and Italy’s a judoka, with a gymnast-turned-firefighter second. Strength relative to bodyweight, grip that lasts, and an engine for repeated efforts keep beating size. Expect the same in America: it won’t be a bodybuilding contest.
