What is the Rogue Invitational?
The Rogue Invitational is an annual competition run by the equipment maker Rogue Fitness. It began in 2019 at Rogue’s headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, as a CrossFit event, added strongman in 2021 and strongwoman in 2024, according to Wikipedia. It ran near Austin, Texas, from 2021 to 2023 and moved to Aberdeen in 2024.
Athletes get in three ways: Rogue’s points system, a direct invitation, or the online qualifier called “The Q” (Velites).

Who to watch
CrossFit men: Sprague v Adler
James Sprague arrives as the 2026 Fittest Man on Earth after winning the CrossFit Games in July, his second title. Canada’s Jeffrey Adler has won the last two Rogue Invitationals (2024 and 2025) but was seventh at the Games. Dallin Pepper (second at the Games), Australia’s Jay Crouch (third), 2025 Fittest Man Jayson Hopper and Saxon Panchik are all in the field.
CrossFit women: Cringle v Horvath
Aimee Cringle, from the Isle of Man, won the 2026 CrossFit Games by 136 points. Hungary’s Laura Horvath is the defending champion and has won the Rogue Invitational three times (2022, 2023 and 2025). Emma Lawson and Lucy Campbell, second and third at the Games, are also here, as is Italy’s Elisa Fuliano, who won the opening challenge on Netflix’s Physical 100: Italy.
Strongman: can anyone stop Hooper?
Canada’s Mitchell Hooper has won every Rogue strongman title since 2023 and won World’s Strongest Man again this year. South Africa’s Rayno Nel finished two points behind him at World’s Strongest Man, and two more World’s Strongest Man champions are in Aberdeen: Martins Licis (2019) and home favourite Tom Stoltman of Scotland (2021, 2022). Hafthor Björnsson (2018) withdrew in October and was replaced by Ukraine’s Pavlo Kordiyaka, the 2023 Europe’s Strongest Man (Fitness Volt).
Strongwoman: Carrasquillo going for three
Puerto Rico’s Inez Carrasquillo has won both Rogue strongwoman titles so far (2024 and 2025). Ukraine’s Olga Liashchuk is her biggest threat.
The Australians
Five Australians are competing, and three of them finished in the top five at the CrossFit Games in July:
- Jay Crouch (CrossFit men): third at the 2026 Games.
- Ricky Garard (CrossFit men): fifth at the 2026 Games.
- Isaac Newman (CrossFit men).
- Madeline Sturt (CrossFit women): fifth at the 2026 Games.
- Katie Blunden (strongwoman).
