Australian event calendar

October is the biggest month yet. The Gravel World Championships leave Europe for the first time and land in Western Australia, Eliud Kipchoge headlines the Nike Melbourne Marathon Festival, the Alice Springs Masters Games marks its 40th anniversary, and IRONMAN Port Macquarie, Around the Bay, Blackall100 and the Noosa Triathlon Festival all add to one of the deepest calendars of the year. These are the Australian events worth knowing about, whether you’re chasing an entry, a story or a reason to train.

Watchlist: excluded, unconfirmed and date-conflicted October events
  • Lakes Trail Festival: Excluded — no 2026 edition. The organiser says the event is taking a break in 2026. Check source
  • Tour de Gracetown: Excluded — not a formal event. The organiser says the formal ride has wrapped up and will not run as a formal event in 2026. Check source
  • Goodness Gravel Parkes / The Dirty Dish: Date conflict. Current official and council material points to a September event under a new name. Excluded until the organiser resolves the date. Check source
  • Triathlon Pink Sydney: Excluded — editorial fit. A women-focused event; this calendar retains events with a clear general or men’s participation route. Check source
  • RIVAL in the North: Hold for organiser confirmation. A supporting competition listing was found, but no current official organiser page was available for a clean date and registration check. Check source
  • Standalone open-water swim: Category gap — no major confirmed October-only race found. Use Swimrun Sydney North and the Noosa 1000 within the Noosa festival for swimming coverage. Check source
