A new recovery centre is opening on the Sunshine Coast in May, promising ice baths, saunas, compression therapy, and a place to unwind. With recovery trending across the world, The Reset Sanctuary, located at 90 Aerodrome Rd, Maroochydore, is aiming to be a go-to spot for post-training recovery, mental wellness, and community connection.
Who’s Behind It?
The project is spearheaded by former AFL player Corey McKernan, a two-time premiership winner (1996, 1999) with North Melbourne and 1996 AFL MVP. A dual Premiership player, a one-time All-Australian at North Melbourne, and a one-time club best and fairest winner and leading goalkicker at Carlton, McKernan was at one time considered to be one of the very best players in the country.
Since retiring, McKernan has been involved in various wellness initiatives, and now he’s bringing that focus to recovery and performance alongside fitness expert Shane Nettleton and Health Junkee founder Natalie Jacobson.

What’s Inside Reset Sanctuary?
The Reset Sanctuary will offer:
- Ice Baths – Cold immersion therapy for muscle recovery.
- Traditional & Infrared Saunas – Heat therapy for detox and relaxation.
- Compression Booths – Circulation and mobility support.
- Chill-Out Lounge – A place to decompress.
- Health Junkee Smoothie Bar
What to Expect
The team is investing heavily in making this a high-end recovery space, with a mix of self-guided and expert-led recovery techniques. McKernan, known for his focus on mind-body wellness, sees this as a natural extension of his career in high-performance sport, he told the Courier Mail.
Is It Worth Checking Out?
If you’re into recovery and performance, The Reset Sanctuary could be worth a visit. It’s not the first of its kind, but the Sunshine Coast doesn’t have many spots offering this mix of recovery tools in one place. Definitely worth it. Opening May 2025.
