TikTok has joined Our Watch—an Australian organisation focused on preventing violence against women and their children—and enlisted some of Australia’s most influential male voices in a campaign to stop against disrespect women, where ever it may occur. Titled the “Respect. It’s the GOAT.”, the campaign kicks off today.
Olympic diver Sam Fricker, comedian Lachlan Fairbairn, Olympic surfer Jack Robinson, fitness creator Louis Phillips, sports creator Jarra Davis, and burger king Ali (Chebbo) Chebbani are all adding their voice to the campaign. The mission? To help young men recognise and call out disrespect towards women, whether it’s online, in public, or just in everyday conversations with their mates.

Real strength is the ability to do the right thing, to stand up for what’s unjust, to call out disrespect and demeaning language when someone steps over the line. If some numb-nut mate starts disrespecting women, or worse still, a single woman, don’t buy into it. Respect for women starts with your actions.

Everyday Actions That Actually Make a Difference
Here’s the deal—respect isn’t about making some grand, heroic stand. It’s about the little, everyday moments that show who you are. Here are some simple but effective ways to step up:
Don’t play along – If a mate makes a sexist joke, don’t laugh. Roll your eyes 🙄 or just move on.
Leave the convo – Not all battles need fighting. Sometimes, walking away sends the loudest message.
Call it out – A quick “Nah, that’s not it” 👎 or “What do you mean by that?” can make people rethink their words.
Back your mates up – If someone else is calling out bad behavior, have their back. Strength in numbers.

“Respect, to me, isn’t just about being kind – it’s about showing up for others, and embracing every moment with gratitude. Growing up, the male role models in my life taught me the value of respect and empathy,” said Australian Olympic Diver, Sam Fricker.
Respect is Strength
“This campaign is important to me because it highlights the power of positive influence, and how the right role models can shape the future for generations to come,” he concluded.
And the numbers back it up. A recent survey found that 81% of young men want to step up when they see disrespect but 70% feel unsure how to act. The campaign is about bridging that gap, making it easier for guys to back each other up and push for change.
Our Watch CEO, Patty Kinnersly, explains why this campaign is so important:
“These findings confirm that many young men want to do the right thing when it comes to respect for women, but fear of backlash, not knowing what to do or being isolated can hold them back. This campaign is about giving people the confidence to step up, support each other, and make respect the norm. Fostering a culture of respect starts with everyday actions – real mates hold each other accountable and create spaces where everyone feels safe and valued.”
